Quarantine at home: how to organise two weeks without going out

⏱ 2 min read
Supplies, outside help, daily plan. A guide based on official advice. The same text is in the free SurvivalZone.app and works without internet.
Quarantine is not only about health but also logistics: food, medicines, work, school, pets. Anyone who went through it in the pandemic knows the first days are the hardest, when everything has to be organised at once.
It is better to have a plan in advance.
Supplies for two weeks
- Long-life food, and things the family actually likes.
- Long-term medicines and fever relief.
- Hygiene products, toilet paper, bin bags.
- Pet food and litter.
Help from outside
- Agree with a neighbour, relative or friend who will do the shopping and leave it at the door. Check which shops and pharmacies nearby deliver. Save the numbers of your GP surgery and medical helpline.
Work and school
- Check in advance whether you can work from home and what you need: a laptop, access to systems, chargers. For children, have books, games and a daily plan. A steady daily rhythm helps everyone, adults too.
Someone ill at home
- If someone at home is ill, give them a separate room and, if possible, a separate bathroom. Air the home often, wash hands and use separate towels. Watch the symptoms and do not hesitate to call a doctor or 112 if they get worse.
Mental health
- Isolation can be hard. Plan daily contact with family and friends by phone or video, movement at home and time in fresh air on a balcony or in the garden, if allowed.
